Over time the surfaces of air conditioning coils become dirty as the air moving over the coils contain dust, dirt, pollen, moisture and other contaminants. A build of of these contaminants decreases the available surfaces area for heat transfer, reducing the efficiency of the heat transfer process, leading to excessive energy consumption and poor system performance. It is important that air conditioning coils are regularily inspected and maintained to ensure optimum performance.

The data shows a comparison between a coated HVAC coil and an uncoated HVAC coil. In just 12 months the uncoated HVAC coil lost 7 % efficiency. This would equate to a higher electricity bill for the uncoated air-conditioning unit.
